Feeling much better thanks. Still not yet over the great time we had at the Green Man. Today I made my film. The video camera really very quickly ran out of battery so their is so much missing I'd have loved to include but nevermind. I'm quite pleased with the result anyhow. Mission accomplished! It was because I wanted to make a film about the Green Man that I became determined to get a new computer, one that would run imovies. It soon became apparent though that forking out for a new computer would mean that I couldn't afford a video camera, however my friend's mother came to the rescue and has lent me one she had won in a competition, I can borrow it as long as I'm putting it to some use and on the condition she gets to see what I do. So it all came together nicely in the end. So anyway here it is, my second film!

Well instant karma has popped up to give me a slap on the wrist for having too much fun at the weekend. I've come down with a stinking cold and am feeling lousy, I also have a spot that is trying to take over my face, not a pretty sight. I had yesterday off work (due to the cold not the spot!)but am going to force myself to go in today as a collegue is leaving and I want the chance to say goodbye. So feeling a little fed up. In complete contrast I wanted to post this song, it has to be one of the theme songs of the festival, as it was played by not only The Aliens but also King Creosote,(something to do with them being brothers I should think) and it describes pretty well how everybody was feeling at the time. It's by the The Aliens and is called the Happy Song. It might just cheer me up enough to get my feet pedaling into work, we'll see.

Instead of my original review of the green man festival which I can't really remember here is a photo of the main stage that I have wickedly stolen from someones website.

I had a lovely time in Northumberland, so nice to spend time with Mick's family. Back to work yesterday and boy was I glum. I felt like I had lost an arm not having Mick with me every second of the day,( if I could I would, every second!)
We toured the shorelines, Lindisfarne, Whitley Bay, Warkworth and Tynemouth. Had a fab day out in Newcastle, visiting the Laing and Baltic art Galleries and the locations of 'Get Carter'. All of which where filmed, as soon as I get time I will make an edited version to post. But at the moment I'm hurriedly trying to prepare for a weekend at the Green Man Festival. Gathering together wellies, rain macs, umbrellas and a tent that doesn't leak, yep it's looking like it's going to get muddy! But I'm not discouraged, no no, we English learn to expect no less, I shall grin and bear it and pretend their is no problem at all, I'm good at this, Mick will do enough moaning for the both of us anyhow!

The highlight of the line-up for me without a doubt will be King Creosote. I saw him play at the Barbican and was absolutely captivated, his voice was so powerful it made the hairs on your arm stand on end. And having discovered the joys of MP3 players whilst travelling up North, I have fallen head over heels with his song '678'. Below is the youtube video. (Sorry I'm addicted to Youtube!)
I have so much to do before I can leave on Thursday and all I really want to do is sit and read my book. I'm hooked on the books of Jeanette Winterson. It started with Pete's recommendation on his website of the book 'The Weight', that combined with Gina's comments about her encouraged me to buy it recently when I came across it. I read it in an afternoon and went straight back to the beginning and started again.
I'm currently reading 'Sexing the cherry', I must admit I was put off by the name but am glad not altogether as it is such a great book. Her writing is full of little gems of wisdom interwoven into bizarre tales involving peculiar characters in strange landscapes. She uses fairy tales ( in this case 'the twelve dancing princesses') and myths in a clever way so that they don't loose their depth but have strange twists and turns. (Gina, and anyone else familiar with her, if you can recommend any of her other books I'd be grateful.)
Anyway, time I got going, I have a marvelous evening in the laundrette planned, whoopee!
