I can't seem to get off the rabbit theme. I was going to come here last night and announce yet another arrival of spring, but my blog was down. Yesterday was the vernal equinox, which is actually the middle, but is known as the astronomical start of spring. I'm not to sure what that means but I noticed a fair bit of burgeoning going on, on my way to work, budding leaves and blossom, birdsong, even a little sunshine. This equinox is also known as Ostara, the pagan sabbat and the supposed origin of many Easter rituals, such as rabbits and giving eggs.
"The original Easter Bunny myth comes from a pagan holiday which was celebrated on the Vernal Equinox. According to Pagan legend, Ostara, the goddess of spring, turned a bird into a rabbit. The rabbit was supposedly able to fly as fast as the bird could fly, but it was still dissapointed that it was a rabbit and not a bird. Ostara had pity on the creature, and one day out of every year, on the Vernal Equinox, she allowed the rabbit to lay eggs like a bird. Due to the proximity of Easter and the Vernal Equinox, converted pagans continued to associate the myth with their new holiday, and the idea has been passed down ever since."

It's also when the goddess gives birth to the god in the birth, death, rebirth cycle of wheel of the year. Fertile times indeed, got to plant some more seeds for the allotment very soon!
This rabbit is named Lily (She looks more like a Bigwig to me ) and belongs to my partners niece. Anyway la de da, got to stop it with the cute kid and rabbit pictures. I've been really busy sorting out the party this week, it's on Saturday and I still have loads to do. I am absolutely shattered right now so must get to bed. Hope you're all having a pleasant day/night. Tara!
