100!
Well there we go my 100th post, was going to do something exciting but my mind is blank with exhaustion from such a busy day at work, so I've just posted some photos. The left one is of me. my brother, his son and a random rabbit. I thought seeing as there has been talk of rabbits that it was appropriate even though it isn't the running wild and free type, just a poor little captive one that lives in pets corner in a city park. It doesn't look a happy bunny if you ask me but neither would I be if I were stuck in a cage with a pair of loonies staring at me.
The one on the right is of me and the love of my life, Shoeshine, in the lake district last year. It was taken by a passer by who offered hence the formal pose. It makes me laugh because I never realise how small I am until I see photos like this. When you are a short-arse, as I am, you don't actually notice being small, well I don't, it's all relative, you just get used to looking up peoples noses, being patronized and being elbowed in the head all the time. It's only when I see this I realise why!
The Lake district is such a great place, we'd been camping for a few days when this was taken, thats why we are looking a little rough. I'm clutching a bunch of sticks that I had just collected from some wonderful trees which I ceremoniously burned on our campfire that night. Just behind where we were standing was a beautiful rocky river, crystal clear waters that shone pink in the light of the sunset and sunrise. Washing your face in the river in the morning after waking up in a sweaty hot tent is heaven, makes you want to fuck it all and live wild and free for the rest of your days. It's amazing how little you actually need to live and thats what I love about camping, it's just you and the elements. Oh I want to go there now, my heart is yearning for green hills, bluebell forests and clear running waters.
Patience.
I have some exciting plans for the summer including a week in the lakes and I just got tickets for 'The Green Man Festival' in Wales, lots of great folky bands playing including Bert Jansch, King Creosote and The Eighteenth day of May, all of which I saw a couple of weeks ago at the Barbican and was blown away by the folking folkiness of it all. It seems that Folk is back in and there appears to be quite a scene brewing, lots of beards and flowery dresses, it seemed to be full of the 'beautiful people', wonder where they've been hiding all these years. Got to go, byeee!

I LOVE your nephew's expression! What a sweetie he is. I think I had the same one when at first I thought the rabbit's head was a camel's snout.

You are short! Goodness. But I have been right abouts where you're standing.

Folk is definitely coming back. I think Seth Lakeman has lots to do with it, which is no bad thing.

It doesn't even have to be traditional songs now, but just that vibe folk music has. That's why I think this music is getting popular. It reminds me of summer days at the Strawberry Fayre, Cambridge.

I actually came by to see this rabbit/camel snout I read about on Izygrl's comments (via Gina). Gina is right. Isn't she always! :-)

I like what I read here and I shall be back. Oh, how I love it when another blog gets added to my sidebar.

Gina,
Hehehe, your right, it does look like a camel's nose, how peculiar. Have you been to the Lakes? The photo is taken in little place called Stonethwaite, near Keswick, which has a smashing campsite, ran by a really lovely old farmer. It is heaven, really it is.
Lzygrl,
Yuk, yep I know the feeling. I was thinking too, about how people like to physically pick you up when you are small. I remember at infant school it used to really bother me, so much so I bit someone once for it, after getting in lots of trouble I realised I'd just have to put up with it.
It's not so bad if your a girl, I saw a female friend picking up a short male friend of ours recently and swing him around, I had to laugh but I thought it a bit cruel. Didn't Gary Coleman (of different strokes fame) attack someone after they did this, I'm sure I heard that somewhere. I know how he feels!
Purplesimon,
Hello! It's always nice to see a new face on my blog. Thanks for the tip on Seth Lakeman, I'll have a listen to him. I adore folk, so glad there are some great new bands to go and see and that people like Bert Jansch and John Renbourn are still going strong. I've never made it to the Strawberry fayre, always thought it sounded lovely though, I'm easily pleased just the name does it for me! Thanks for the commendation, see you around blogland! Cheers,
Moonpie
