Rabbits, rabbits, rabbits, I know it's all a bit late for that but I just like saying it. Well today is officially the first day of spring, according to the man on the radio anyway, not so sure, it feels bloody freezing to me, but there is a new moon, and seeing as I've been saying it's the first day of spring for ages, today suits me just fine. There are definately a few signs, the snowdrops I planted in the autumn have come up, well a couple of them, and there's some daffodills sprouting. The ducks are getting a little fruity as well, oh the performance, all flapping and splashing and the poor female looks like it's getting drowned. But I can't wait for the ducklings, they're so cute, our first spring here we took so many photos of the ducklings, it just got silly, they all look the same and you never can quite capture that essence of cuteness ( I'll try though and post a photo of the first.)
I've been getting a little carried away today, I'm organizing a 30th Birthday Party for my best friend and I've decided it's not going to be an ordinary party, oh no, it's going to be a psychedelic Love-in, a positive happening! I'm trying to organize lights and a smoke machine, and I've got an oil projector and some super DJs, the only thing that will be missing are the hallucinogens, (don't think people would approve) and the sex (cause I'll have none of that orgy business) but aside from that there's going to be alot of love and plenty of psychedelia and I can't wait. Haven't held a party for years because our flat is far too tiny, more than four feels like a party. We used to have them in our cellar at a house I used to live in, and it was great, sometimes the cellar felt enormous cause it was full of dancing people and I'd be in heaven, sometimes they'd go on for days and sometimes people just didn't leave at all. It was the only way that house ever got a good tidy, a good clear away beforehand, then a good wash down when it was over. Those were the days, sort of, though I quite like cleanliness and reasonable solitude and not having to listen to really loud Dub when I need to sleep, shared houses have there ups and downs I suppose, but the parties, they were ups.
Went into town to shop after work, I have terrible trouble buying new clothes, and I really need some, I'm not a fan of shopping as it is, after work is good because it's not long before closing time so I don't spend hours trailing round, it turns me into a zombie eventually if I spend too long, I just end up shopping for shopping sake, which is what ever one else appears to be doing too, like zombies. My trouble is that I only see clothes that I like when I have no money, however much they cost is exactly the amount that I've haven't got, then when I have money to spend there is nothing I like. The high street fashion at the moment is horrible, I really hate it, no I don't want to dress like Shakira or Beyonce or bloody Shania Twain, and I hate gold, I can't stand it. So any way my new trick is too pretend I'm going shopping to buy household essentials like moisture traps (these are essential as my flat is dripping from every pore at the moment) then have a quick look in the clothes stores to try and catch out some nice item of clothing, it didn't work today but I'll keep trying. Chain stores are horrible places, we have a new 'Primark' which is an extremely cheap clothes shop that obviously produces they're goods in sweat shops, admitedly I loose my principles when I'm particularly skint, but it must be real slave labour the price they sell things on. Their warehouse, which was enormous, burned down before christmas, and I couldn't help thinking it must be all the bad karma incurred that caused it. I want to learn how to pattern cut (my Dad's trade) then I can make my own clothes and I'll never have to spend another moment in those fluorescent strip lit hell holes again, life's too bloody short.
On my way home my brake cable broke on my bike, the hill was terrifying and the bottom of my shoes are nearly worn away, not sure how I'll get to work tommorow I can't bear walking, will probably attempt the brakeless bike again (avoiding hills) and take it to get fixed after work. This is my 99th post, my next being my hundredth, think I may need a clear out at 100 I think, I'll see. Oh dear it's late again and I'm tierd too, I had a dream last night where I was being chased for what felt like hours by these scary demon type creatures (been watching too much 'Angel') and I didn't feel very rested this morning, hopefully tonight will be a little less eventful. Night Night!

You know Moonpie I used to stick to window shopping in London. I was skint, at best, but I would get an idea of the colours in season and especially take away those colours I like, and then I would head for the Camden Market to shop for used stuff. Back in the day!

The party sounds like it'll be a smash, and also there doesn't seem to be enough room for mad, unmemorable sex. "Oh, you'd remember it," in other words, were anything from the ignorant-sixties attempted. I like the smoke machine ... and I would have loved you to arrange the party I'd had.

Anywho, snow drops, spring, ducks having sex. Heaven on earth.

I love rabbits! My favourite part of being in Dorchester Upon Thames two summers ago was seeing the little cottontails running around on the old saxon forts near the river.

Gina,
Yes you're right, shopping for secondhand clothes is far more fun. I used to always shop in charity shops, but they're are getting a little stale these days, they all seem to pass around the same old stock. I much prefer rummage sales. Only trouble with them is that you have to be there as soon as they start, which is usually 10am Saturday morning, when I'd rather be sleeping and you've got to be prepared to have a tug of war with a bunch of fiesty old ladies. It actually requires alot of skill, a keen eye, a strong arm, and good elbowing technique else you'll never get anywhere near the the clothes and you have to remember these old ladies have been doing it for years, real proffessionals! I always end up coming home with a sack full of clothes that only cost about £1 because they charge silly prices like 5p an item. Half of it usually goes straight back to the charity shop once I've seen it in a proper light, but I have got some great stuff in the past. I 'm a sod for collecting fancy dress clothes, half are my clothes I'm unable to wear for everyday day use, but given half the chance and a bit of frivolity I'm there all dressed up! But anyway, yes, secondhand is the way forward, its recycling and you get much better karma from it. London is great for markets but I very rarely go there, I'd rather send my weekends in the country than going to an even bigger city, although London is growing on me I may pay a few more visits this year.
Anne Marie,
I adore rabbits too, I think once you've read 'Watership Down' the sight of them just fills your heart with joy. They're beautiful creatures, hares too, they're amazing.
Must go going to be late for work!

Hi Moonpie,
Just been reading through your last posts. That Sonic Youth version of "Superstar" is great isn't it? About a year ago (just as a fun thing among friends) I recorded a little "covers version" CD of my own, and attempted their approach to that very song. Trouble was everyone thought I was being a dreadful Karen Carpenter. They didn't get it at all!! Did you know the ORIGINAL was by Delanie and Bonnie and was called "Groupie"? Hence the original lyric "hardly wait to sleep with you again" rather than "be". When you think about it, the story within the whole song makes much more sense that way.
And I broke at laughing at the quotes from "Witnall and I". (Hope that doesn't make me a complete anorac but couldn't help it).
Also, I've been messing around in the "Method" room. (Is that what we're all going to call it?) I havn't come up in that lottery, but thought I'd try and see what it's all about. Interesting. Think I'll have to sit around with the headphones on and keep messing about with it a while longer yet.
Good luck with the "bike". No doubt I'll nip back and read your 100th post before long. (As we're practically the only two bloggers in the UK - or so it sometimes seems).

MP, I still own a necklace from the cancer shop (I forget the name of the national cancer shops over there); secondhand, bought in the late eighties (were you even born?). I otherwise hate shopping. Yuck.

Rabbits are cool all the time. They've got things under control. They know, the wild ones, to stay clear from us humans. It's the most they need to know.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for the tip on 'Superstar' I hadn't realised their was an original original, I shall check it out. It's such a great song, I quite enjoy singing it in a french accent, not sure why it just seems to fit.
The method is all extremely exciting, not sure how it's going to work now as it seems that everyone can sign up for the lottery, I'm hoping we have our places secured already but not sure. Fingers crossed.
I can't wait to find out what it all entails, it's always fascinated me. What will be asked to do? Will it require any musical ability? I hope not as I have none. There are so many questions! My boyfriend has already made up a version of what he thinks my music would sound like, a kind of high pitched monotonous screech, thanks Shooey, needless to say he's being cheeky, but I wouldn't half laugh if he was right, who's to know, as Pete mentioned on the blog you might not like you're own music. If it is an awful row does this reflect you as a person? Lots to think about but not sure if it's worth speculating probably should just be patient but as I've mentioned before patience isn't one of my virtues, at least I can stop checking my emails twenty times a day now!
Gina,
Loros? Marie Curie? There are so many charity shops these days, do you get them in the U.S? Yes I was definately born by the late eighties, still a child but alive and kicking. There are twelve years between us, you and I, I know that without even using maths because we were both born in the year of the horse. Not sure what being a horse means, but it puts flowing manes and galloping hooves in mind, free spirits, that's what I'd like to think anyway.

No, over there meaning London. Was on the high street in Hendon. North London. National perhaps. I forget. Lovely piece made by a child. Makes me wish I owned a digital camera.

The year of the horse, hello, rocks. I wouldn't trade it. What's left to trade it with? A rat? Naw. The horse. The year of the horse.

Whoops, yeah Gina I knew wha you mean't I should have used a full stop there and started an entirely new sentence, as in; Do you get Charity Shops in the U.S?
A digital camera is a good investment, hour of fun.

Hi Moonpie,
Tubing isn't dangerous because they control the runs and only let you go down the track when it's clear. At the bottom on the hill, there's a reverse hill with rubber mats to slow you down, and if that fail, there's netting past the reverse hill to catch you. It's all controlled except for the 75 km per hour freefall. :)
