Happy Midsummer!
Watch out for those fairies!
Today I ate my very first produce from my allotment. It was only a raddish but it was the best I've ever tasted. Everythings growing so well I can hardly believe it, they've faced some tough conditions too, we had no water supply for quite a while and with days on end of sunshine, I really thought they we're a gonna. Never thought I'd pray for rain.
Really excited about camping at the weekend. One of my favourite things is sleeping outdoors (under canvas anyway.) I love the sound of rain on the tent. Being out in the elements but at the same time safe and dry. There is something so comforting about it.
As long as the rain isn't too hard, last year at the Glastonbury festival it got a little scary. Luckily we we're at the top of a hill and not in the path of one of the rivers that formed washing away tents sometimes with people in them. My friend and I spent the morning screaming 'HELP' because we found it funny, everyone was trapped in their tents and the rain was so loud you would never be heard anyway. I've never seen a storm like it, the sky was black and the lightening strikes were just a little too close for comfort. But it all had a happy ending because after a good long time the rain ceased and I the best weekend of my life, and so did my friends. And that's what we are commerating this weekend in Leeds, a year to the day.
I'm hoping for little less dramatic weather this year, it's terribly windy at the moment, not good in a tent. One time we were camping my friend was awoken by a loud clatter against his camper van only to find it was an occupied tent that had been picked up on a gust of wind.
Anyway, camping has it's perils but it also has it's moments of bliss, it never lets you down. Stary skys and waking full of fresh air. Campfires and cups of teas. Trees, fields and loud rock and roll!
What more could you ask for? Nearly got to the end of the post without mentioning you know who but you know who.
Happy summer beginings everyone, best of luck with all your journeys, adventures and endeavours!

I love that sound of rain too - but I'll settle for it on the windows! My experiences with camping haven't been too good, but that's surely 'cos no romance was involved...
Nice to see a painting go up with your post. (Like old times). And having followed the progress of your allotment I'm seriously considering growing some food. I've never done that, and yet as a kid we lived almost exclusively on the produce of our garden.

Ah, the sound and smell of summer rain. Love it too.
We have a favourite camping spot in a place near Lake Ontario, just a few hours east of Toronto, called Sandbacks. It is a provincial park, with rolling sand dunes and soft sand that goes out a half kilometres from the beach so you can lay down in the sun and not worry too much about kids in the water. They also have a pet beach to cool down the pooch, and great camping spots with trees to shade you and pits to cook and enjoy the outdoor life. My favourite place to do outdoor yoga...
Enjoy your trip, and continued good luck with your garden; I am eagerly awaiting the season's chutney.
Cheers,

Ian,
I can't encourage you enough to start a vegtable patch, I've found it so rewarding and I still have the harvest yet to come (apart from the raddish!)
Found out this week that this years 'fun day' at work is a visit to Sherwood forest. (yep we have a fun day, which till last year I avoided with statigically placed holidays, only to discover when I finally attended that is was quite fun.) We are going to a robin hood festival that is on in the forest. And in the morning we're going for a spot of archery. I'm going to try my best to catch up with the major Oak. You'll have to let me know of it's whereabouts.
Anne Marie,
Sandbanks sounds lovely, it reminded me of sandy camping spot called 'Shell Island' off the coast of Wales that I visited a few years ago. At night it's cut off from the mainland and it feels like your own.
I'm really looking forward to reading about your trip. Will you be blogging while you're away? It must be getting very close to your departure.

Hi Moonpie,
I am leaving in 2 weeks time, but I don't know yet about blogging during the trip. I suppose I can update from a cybercafe, or during pitstops with friends or family. I know Austin will be bringing his laptop, but internet access is another story.
I promise to take a lot of pictures and do the trip justice in August, if I can't do much at the time.
Cheers,
