Just arrived home from Leeds and Michael and I are a little worse for wear. We both managed to injure ourselves during the gig. I'm having difficulty walking and Mick's arm has swollen to twice the size! The moment the gig started somebody knocked into me and I threw my redbull and vodka into my face temporarily blinding myself.
However undeterred (although a little disturbed that I had eye make-up running down my face) I made my way to the front of the crowd. I haven't watched a gig from the very thick of it since I was a teenager but overcome by the need to see and just the excitment of it all, off I went bouncing into the tightly packed, extremely hot and sweaty mosh pit. And boy was it fun!
My painstakenly straightened hair, within about 3 seconds expanded into a frizzy curly mop and god did I wish I had remembered a hairband. Don't think I have ever been so hot in all my life. Someone very kindly tied all my hair into a big knot which helped a little. There was alot of comradery in the audience, a few pushy arseholes, but in general everyone was united. And everybody was loving it.
But of course they did. As I'm sure you all well know The Who rock!
They were fucking brilliant. In the words of Fairport Convention, yet again 'they roused the spirit of the earth and moved the rolling skys!' The band were great. Roger's voice was on top form and Pete was stunning. We were about two metres from the front, right in front of Pete and close up and in person, those eyes... he can light up a room, a refectory, a stadium and even when he called the audience c**ts he got a roar of approval!
Anyway enough for now, tommorow I will post some photos, right now I have to go and bandage up poor Micky's arm! Oh well, we're both in agreement it was all worth the pain we are suffering now. We'll probably be right back there again next week at Leeds O2, getting a trampling and elbowed right in the thick of it. It was so exhilarating, think I might have to give it another go!

Erm...how did Michael's arm end up so...huge?
Thanks to you I will not forget a hair tie. I suspect in barcelona the sports forum will either be hot as hell or air conditioned to hurt the eye teeth. And still I'm hoping he doesn't call us c's. geez.
Sounds like a lot of fun (you had). Thanks for even finding the time to post so soon! I was thinking of you there and wondering, given the images on the News pages, which one is you!

Yikes, Moonpie, sorry to hear you both got banged up a bit. The best I ever managed was to get spit on at the 2003 Who Convention.
Can't wait to see the pics, and I'm glad you managed to have fun.

Gina,
Well maybe twice it's size was a bit of an exaggeration but it was quite a big lump! It was caused by a severe elbowing in the mosh pit. Ouch!
I doubt very much you'll see me in any of the photos cause I was a foot shorter than every one else in the crowd! Being able to see involved alot of jumping up and down.
Anne-Marie,
Spat on, oh no! By who? When I was a kid my dentist was really old and he would spit when he spoke, not what you want from your dentist! Come to think of it that's probably why I haven't been to the dentist for well over ten years.
I'm afraid I had a bit of blogger bother earlier, I posted up all the photos but it didn't work. Will try again tommorrow, I can only do it from my work computer at the moment, hopefully that will all change next week when we get our new imac, very excited about that. I shall warn you now though that the photos are pretty awful but I'll post them anyway.
