My word the Who convention was so much fun, I grinned from ear to ear all day long, it was Who heaven. We met some absolutely delightful people, some lovely who fans as well as Irish Jack and some of Keith Moon's family. Keith's mum was very sweet, she seems such a lovely person, the whole family were so down to earth and smiley. We even asked Keith's fourteen year old nephew if he wanted to form a band, with him as our drummer and he agreed! We're called 'The Rabbits', Malcolm a friend of Irish Jack we met there too is also in them. Thats the third imaginary band I'm in now, The Rabbits, Maris Piper and The Dusty Maidens I'd better learn how to play something quickly.
I took a real shine to Irish Jack too, I wanted to take him home, he's such a star, his anecdotes were fab, really funny and he was so happy to talk to people. I also met Simon Townshend although I don't think I actually said anything to him, except perhaps hello, then I just grinned, think I was a bit overcome, he seems really lovely too. Everyone was so friendly. And of course there was Roger, he sang a couple of songs with Simon then went into the foyer for a few photos, I found a picture of him on the internet today with Mick and I stood right behind, which was pretty cool, had to send it to all my friends!
The cover bands were lots of fun, got a bit of dancing in to the Wholigans and Who's Who did a bloody good job at Quadrophenia, was pretty stunning really considering the complexity of it. I kind of missed the Casbah Club, too busy gabbing but I'm sure they'll be plenty of opportunity to see them on the Who tour.
When we got back to our hotel we spent hours people watching as what seemed like the whole of Shepherds bush walked passed our window, we had a great view as our room was overlooking the common. It was really entertaining with girls falling out of taxi cabs, and a strategically placed puddle that would splash passers by much to our amusement.
I must say though I can't believe how many people cycle on the road without lights in London, they must be absolutely insane and nobody battered an eyelid not even the taxi drivers, if you did something like that here they would run you over just to prove a point.
But anyway, I had such a great weekend I'm still smiling from it all, what a lovely bunch of people, I wish the conventions were monthly. Next time I want to see you all there!

Wholy-whoolie-gawd Moonpie! You found a chair!

Seems like the whole gig was a dream. I really like the scooter, oh-yeah. Glad you even think you said hello to Simon. I can't imagine people seeming off-ish and enamoured all at the same time. Oh dear, "fame". Neat to see Mrs. Moon. I'm glad she looks happy!

I've done you an imaginary album cover for your imaginary band's first imaginary CD. Check your imaginary e-mail and you'll see it.

Isn't it awesome?? I'm really pleased with the way the Rabbit on the left incorporates the Parental Guidance warning sticker so artistically.

That's £3,000 you owe me.

Gina,
It kind of feels like a dream, all very surreal.
Ian,
Cheers, I'll post you an imaginary cheque. Is that the going rate for CD artwork? Bloody hell, we're in the wrong proffession.
My best friend's two year old son makes a lovely cup of imaginary tea, he toddles off into the kitchen and does all the tea making actions then carefully brings you a imaginary mug. And biscuits, but he prefers them real, he's not daft.

Glad to read you had a great time, Moonpie. I went to the 2003 convention and had a blast, just couldn't manage it for time off this time.
Thanks for posting the photos. They're fabs.

Cheers,

Hiya Anne Marie,
Yes, it was because of your recommendations that I made the final decision to get a ticket, so thanks. We have talked of it for years but I was a bit unsure cause I really didn't know what to expect. It was such a fun day out though I'll recommend the next one to everyone. I do hope there is a next one.

Hi Gina,
He was reading from his journals I think, his Who anecdotes, some fan letters and a tribute to Keith Moon. He's really funny, a real character and he loves the Who so much. It was such a pleasure to meet him.
Thanks for the link on your blog to the poetry site, It reminded me to read some of Sylvia Plath's poetry, I love 'the Bell Jar' but I'd never read any of her poems. I read some this afternoon and it blew me away, I was spellbound! I'm going to post a couple of my favourites in a bit. So thanks for that!
