by Peter Blake

It's funny because my friend and I have been best mates ever since we we're twelve and I keep thinking, how the hell are we allowed to go off to Prague together on our own, fancy our parents letting us! I can't get it into my head we're both actually 27 and allowed to do stuff like this now. It somehow feels naughty!

Thanks Moonpie, for the supportive words on my blog about my own paintings. I think it's not going to be easy getting back into the situation I used to enjoy of having local support and "sounding boards" around me. But I'll get back there. Having been there once, I know the way.

Also, every time I come to your blog it seems I'm swept away by Peter Blake. I think I've said it before, but it's a shame he's mostly regarded as a pop artist / collage maker, when his painting skills are so stunning. The way he assembles things together was no doubt a big influence on me.

And speaking of Alice In Wonderland, the 1960's version by Jonathan Miller is not to be missed by anyone who sees the work as much more than a children's story.

Must go. I want to put a last few paintings on my gallery blog. (It's too cold and dark at present in Brits-land to consider going outside!)

Ian,
Thanks for your recommendations, I've often looked at that version of 'Alice in Wonderland' in HMV and thought it looked good. The film of 'Metamorphosis' sounds really interesting too, is it Tim Roth? The BFI do put out some good films but they're always quite pricey. I've been waiting for 'A Taste of Honey' and 'The Caretaker' to come down in price from £20.00 for ages now. They shouldn't cost so much more just cause they're good, thats just daft!
Glad your enjoying the Peter Blake. I'm getting back into painting myself, I'm trying oils as I never really had a proper go. I'll post it up when it's finished.

If it feels naughty, you may as well be naughty. Have a blast!

Ing,
I have seen that film and it's great, really dark and twisted!
Does anyone know what the name is of the two brothers who do animation, it's in quite a similar style to this version of Alice? I saw them on the TV a while ago but forgot to write down the name.
