Hi everyone!
I just got back from a holiday in the Lake District. A group of us hired a holiday cottage next to Ullswater (the word group sounds so impersonal when in fact 'the group' were made up of some of my very most favourite people.)
The countryside around there is just stunning. We spent the days wandering the landscapes (and pubs) on boats, bikes and foot and the evenings eating big communal dinners, playing table tennis, dancing, making music and getting through far too many bottles of wine for our own good. I filmed the whole holiday but whiether I can put the finished film on You Tube will depend on my friends, they can be rather bashful, I'll see what they say.
We had no internet access for a whole week. This is probably a good job as I was getting worryingly addicted to You Tube before we left. I discovered you can create your own channel, here is mine if anyone fancies a look;

My Green Man film has had 430 views which I find pretty scary, but I'm also really pleased about. Thanks for your comments here, it's great having some feedback, really encouraging.
I can hardly believe it's Sunday night and tommorow I'm back at work, the week flew by, you know what they say about having fun. Argh, work, how bloody depressing. And I've been swearing at the TV all night, after a week spent away from civilisation (if you can call it that), it seems even more ridiculous than usual.
Anyway, these are some photos from our trip. Mostly taken by Mick, I've been filming so he's been getting more time with the camera, we squabble terribly over the camera, use of the computer etc. but it's good as our being competitive or just plain stubborn drives us to do stuff. And much of the time we collaborate even if that just means I have to stand still so that I can be used as a tripod.
Mick has a real eye for photography though where as I just occasionally get lucky. I thinks he's captured a bit of that Rheged magic here (Rheged is the old Celtic name for Cumbria, something I learnt this week) The standing stones are part of the Castlerigg stone circle near Keswick. The Lake is the beautiful Ullswater, our home for the week.
Night all!
PS Gina, glad you found me. Thanks for passing on the message, Ian.

Stunning photographs -I love the black and white world he captured. I can’t think what you mean by too much wine for your own good, Moonie; the grape is very medicinal on all sorts of levels ;)
Be lucky,
Paul

You have an eye for beauty. I really love the photos- especially the black and white ones. I love b & w- you can see the details in a way that colour distracts and can't.
Glad you had a good time. Never been to the Lake district, but I remember vividly picturing it from "the Plague Dogs".
