Had a great time in Norfolk. We had the funniest car journey down there, we forgot to take any CD's for the journey the only one we had was 'The Dears' album, however we are all in agreement that there is only one good song on it, 'Lost in the Plot', it is such a excellant song, perfect pop, so we just played it over and over! All in all over the weekend we must have played the song 30/40 times. Each time singing along at the top of our voices, only our version is slightly different (for ages my friend thought the words were' Alma, don't mess with Alma' and it's just stuck,) then exclaiming 'again, again' like bunch of two year olds. I can still hear the song so plainly in my head that I'll never actually have to play it again.
Saturday we went to Burnham Market, there is a lovely second-hand bookshop there. I love old books, they're fascinating. I love the thought that other people have read them, maybe lent them to their friends, they may have changed peoples outlook or even the course of their lives. I picked up an old biography of William Morris and it fell open on a page bookmarked with a newspaper article from the 1950's about how materialism and consumerism will destroy communities and christian values. Now there's forethought for you, shame no one payed attention. I bought a book of Russian Fairytales, (because it had the story of Vasilisa the beautiful and Baba Yaga in it) and a book on growing vegetables.
I really enjoyed the new installment of TBWHM. It 's so refreshing, in this day and age, when 'spirituality' is almost a dirty word, when more and more people are starting to feel that organized religions are bad news because they cause too many wars and are rife with corruption and twisted words to serve their own means, yet people have nothing to replace them with except TV,celebrity and materialism, and new age religions and belief systems that are all too easily turned into money making business, it is so refreshing, to read something quite so profound, just an honest sharing of knowledge, just for the hell of it. It's really quite beautiful.
All the talk of Schrödinger's cat is reminding of a loss in our family though, my brothers cat, Elvis, is missing, she's been gone since Friday, we don't know if she's alive or dead you see. My two year old nephew, was calling out her name in his sleep last night and when his mum asked him if he'd dreamed of the cat he told her ' Elvis is sleeping'. So maybe we do know after all. Poor Elvis.
My boyfriend went for his interview today, it was with Premier Drum. He thought it went ok, it sounds really promising. I said to him before he went that I bet he wouldn't get through the interview without mentioning The Who or Keith Moon. Just as he was about to leave he spotted a (white) 'Pictures of Lily' floor tom behind the door. At which he had to comment, it's strange though because there was nothing else in the room aside from a table and chairs, and when he commented the interviewer didn't know why it was there. It's got to be a good sign if you ask me, fingers crossed!
Oh I suppose I should get of the computer I will be getting square eyes. Apologies for my awful spelling. Good night!
PS The moon is all shiny and new tonight.

Hiya.
I love old books, too. I work at a used bookstore in San Francisco. The name of my blog came from a brittle, yellowed newspaper clipping -- a cartoon -- that I found in a book.
Has the boyfriend heard anything about the job? Good sign, yes.

Hello moonpie,
a gerund--so you'll know and never forget--is the -ing ending (there's one). They turn verbs into nows. They 'noun verbs' is what I know. And otherwise, a quick look here http://www.chompchomp.com/terms/gerund.htm will explain it even better.
On Elvis, it seems he's left the building. There's a story, "Elvis Has Left the Building", by Janelle Meraz Hooper, and hollywood has at least picked up on its title. A movie is in our wake. I hope your Elvis has returned by now.
You look great in that strawberry hat, by the way. Very chic and without the snootiness. Refreshing.
Thanks for stopping by and saying hi!

Hi, Moonpie! Love your blog! I'm the writer who wrote the Elvis has left the Building (and Is Living in My Computer)story. The original story was published in my short story book, "Free Pecan Pie and Other Chick Stories"...what a kick to see it mentioned on your blog!
Keep blogging!
Janelle
