The following is Shane Meadows talking about his film 'This is England' on The Culture Show. (Warning the film does contain spoilers although they shouldn't really spoil it.)
This film is stunning. It's funny, heartwarming and disturbingly alarming. It's also totally relevant. In our recent local elections the BNP won two seats in Leicestershire, in other areas they have been gaining support but thankfully not enough. It's a sad fact that the film is not being shown in any cinemas in Leicester. Even more so when you see the crap that is showing. It's also sad that the film has been given an 18 rating when it should be screened in every school.
Shane Meadows is a star, a hero and a genius and he also seems like a bloody nice bloke.

If you go to the Extras section on the website there are some photos that me, Mick and our friend Joe took when we visited Matlock and Riber Castle (locations in Dead Man shoes.)

I would have watched these sooner if i was back 'home', but a friend recommended DMS when I was in Dublin in last year and I finally got hold of a copy about a month ago - powerful film. But holy free holy, the guys are stars - the reenactments are well funny. Request for the scene where 'Joe' appears to 'Mick' in a gas mask and boiler suit.
